When did you start getting into crafting, and what did you start with?
I have always been pretty crafty; I'm a very visual personal. For instance I was a pre-teen/teen I made bags out of fancy duct tape and various-sized cereal boxes!

Do you work outside Etsy?
How do you find time for both?
I do! I actually just started a new full-time job since moving from Vancouver Island to the Mainland. I work on my side business in the evenings before dinner and when I have free time, but try to make sure I always have Saturday/Sunday off from both. It can be hard, especially if one or the other, or both, get busy but I've had multiple jobs/things on the go for so many years now, it's never really a big problem. As long as neither are being effected by whatever is going on, it's all good! A vacation from either, or both, from time to time is always a must though. Running in burn-out mode is not good for anyone.

How did you learn about Etsy?
A friend of mine started selling her illustrated cards on Etsy a few years ago and I had stumbled upon it before that, though I hadn't done much but open an account.

When did you start your shop?
October 1, 2011! I'm almost at my 1st year anniversary and I am very excited to celebrate it. My 25th birthday is on October 4th, so it will be a great week for me!

Where does your inspiration for your items come from?
Everywhere. It can be from magazines, pinterest, scenery on a walk, reading a book, etc.

Is there a certain item with a story behind it?
Most have a story behind the photograph, but my fav is probably the "Daisies" greeting card. I went on my first roadtrip one summer when I was 19 "up north" to a small town. I didn't have a DSLR back then, just my trusty Film SLR. I took roll after roll of photographs. At some point on the trip we stumbled upon the festival grounds, abandoned at that point. I came across an old mailbox in one of the fields, overgrown by daisies. I got down on my stomach to get an interesting angle and must have wasted half a roll trying to get the "perfect" shot. This old mailbox that used to hold precious letters from loved ones, now tossed away without a thought and overgrown with beautiful delicate daisies - love it! It may not be a favorite of many people's, but it's one of mine!
Funny fact: the "Memories" photograph used in one of my other greeting cards was also taken on that roadtrip. =)

Do you have advice for any shops just starting?
Do it because you love it, not for profit. Find something that is uniquely you, don't try to follow the crowd. Research the websites you will be using, marketing options and your market. Take your time, don't rush into opening the shop unprepared.

Do you have a Facebook fan page? Twitter? Blog?

Fun Questions to
Get to Know You:

What is the furthest place you have traveled?
The small town of Smithers, BC where they filmed parts of "The Grey" with Liam Neeson!

Which bad habits of other people drive you crazy?
Tardiness. I don't like to be left waiting, wondering if people are actually going to show up. I always try to be a few minutes early for certain things or right on time. Obviously, sometimes it can't be helped even I run late from time to time but anything over 15 minutes late with no text or call just makes me annoyed. ha ha.

Do you have any pets? If so what are their names?
At the moment we have one cat. We're "cat-sitting" for a friend of mine who is working out of town for the next several months. Her name is Molly (or Mollykins), she's 8 years old-ish and is a-dork-able. We love her!

If you could get back a lost item from your past, what would it be?
My purple dress. Seriously! My car was broken into a few years ago and the people who did it, took my overnight bag (along with my diabetic supplies, iPod, etc) with my favourite dress in it. I have been searching for a replacement for almost three years and have yet to find something that matches it or even comes close. I'm not a dress person, so that fact I was able to find one I liked AND wanted to wear was a big deal for me. ha ha.

What is your favorite food?
If I had to choose just one thing...mashed potatoes. I'm a sucker for the pot of mashed potatoes at any family dinner. My mom tells me it's the Irish in my blood. ;)
